Which foods cause allergies in children?
It has allergy to all foods. Any nutrient that contains protein can cause allergies, but some substances may cause more allergies. Cow milk comes first. Egg whites, nuts, shellfish and wheat flour are also very allergic foods.
Does infants receiving breast milk have food allergy?
Yes, only infants with breast milk can also have food allergy. Allergy-causing protein parts of milk and dairy products and other allergic foods in the mother's nutrition pass to the baby and therefore the baby may have food allergy.
What are the symptoms of food allergy?
Allergies are most common in the skin, lungs and digestive system. It has symptoms such as wheezing in the lungs, persistent coughs, shortness of breath, eczema-like rashes on the skin, gas in the digestive system, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, constipation and bloody poop.
The incidence of food allergy has increased in recent years. We think this is due to nutritional foods that are unnatural.
How is food allergy diagnosed?
We do skin test and blood allergy tests for diagnosis. Only children with respiratory and skin symptoms are treated by pediatric allergy specialists; We perform colonoscopy to confirm the diagnosis especially in infants with allergic colitis caused by bloody poop. In colonoscopy, the image of the large intestine shows us whether there is food allergy.
What is being done for treatment?
If we are diagnosed with food allergy, we remove milk and milk products for a minimum of six months from the baby's nutrition as it is the most common allergy in the treatment. If the baby does not pass the bloody poop during this time, for example, the second most common cause of eggs are removed from the list. If not, we follow the baby by removing the other foodstuffs that cause allergy in the same way. This dietary treatment is applied to the mother only in infants who are breastfed. If the allergen cannot be detected, or if the baby is being fed with food, we give these infants six months of special allergy food. Babies with food allergy are corrected before the age of two by 90-95 percent with proper diagnosis, treatment and a good priest.
